Success Skills

Acquire the education and skills needed to succeed in a dynamic and competitive global environment

We know the difference it can make in people's lives and careers to have a solid set of success skills. Our projects are focused around helping the unemployed and the underemployed in our community get the skills they need to make an even bigger impact in their current and future occupations.

Networking Night: Skills You Need to Get Ahead

This workshop focuses on specific attributes needed in the business world. This event is targeted towards entry level employees who are looking to move up in their companies as well as people who are recently unemployed as a result of the economic climate. During the event, a representative from Dale Carnegie conducts a discussion on the importance of using networking to one’s advantage. The remaining part of the evening is devoted to several table discussions, led by table facilitators represented from a variety of businesses.

Victory Outreach

The “Victory Outreach”/Santa Ana High School District project consists of developing and implementing curriculum that will help women enter or re-enter the workforce. In the past, this project has been executed by conducting a set of workshops focusing on six different phases as seen below. The hope is that the women gain confidence and learn new skills that will help them achieve a desirable position within their individual career fields.

Phase 1: A "meet-and-greet" forum to learn the personalities of the women involved as well as a discussion of their goals

Phase 2: Collecting important information (i.e., contact information, past job experience, education)

Phase 3: Résumé workshop

Phase 4: Mock interviews and business attire tips

Phase 5: E-mail/Phone etiquette

Phase 6: A visit to Working Wardrobes for interview ensembles

The year, working with the women of Victory Outreach means more than teaching them success skills; rather, it is seeing the women apply these skills to their lives in hopes of furthering them in their career paths.
